Research support

Whether you're studying, need help finding information on a particular topic, or are working on a business project, our knowledgeable librarians are here to help.

We can provide free research support to give you access to articles and resources on a wide range of subjects, as part of your membership of Gold Coast Libraries.

All our resources are available to access in libraries and you can use most of them from home with your library card and PIN.

To access research support:

  • talk to our team at your library about your research needs
  • use our free online Ask a librarian service to submit a research request.

Reading advice

Helping you get more from your reading is what our librarians love the most!

Call in to any library or use our online Ask a Librarian form and we'll be happy to suggest books and authors that suit your reading interests.

Our library catalogue also has a great feature to help you find new reads that you might like. When you view an item in the catalogue, scroll down the page to find the 'You might also like' section. If we have suggestions, you'll see suggested titles and authors.

Our reading websites are also worth a look - see our eLibrary page for help finding new reads similar to those you already enjoy reading, including NoveList Plus and Who Else Writes Like...?

Gold Coast history

Our Local Studies Library is the best place in the city to learn about the Gold Coast, past and present, with a unique collection of resources including vintage photographs and stories of places and people. Need a guest speaker on local history or inspiration for a display? Our librarians regularly visit schools to share the history of our city with students and teachers, and have developed a diverse range of presentations suitable for students at all levels.

Special needs

Our Special Needs Library (based at Nerang Library) has a range of resources that support developmental and rehabilitation needs such as fine and gross motor skills, speech and language skills. Teachers working in Special Education units can access these resources.
