Water going into a stormwater drain

The City of Gold Coast continues to renew culverts (under-road stormwater drainage pipes) that are close to the end of their serviceable life.

Project details

The City maintains over 2600 kilometres of stormwater drainage with an ongoing upgrade and renewal program. These works are part of our $23 million stormwater drainage annual capital works program.

Construction details

Existing under-road drainage pipes will be excavated and replaced with new pipes.

Works are expected to take approximately 10 to 20 days at each site.

Impact on public

To ensure we can complete the works safely, there will be partial road closures during construction. There will be no full road closures and access will be maintained at all times for motorists and local residents.

Traffic control officers will be on duty to assist, and some traffic delays are expected.

Local residents may experience construction noise at times.

We will be working to ensure disruptions are kept to a minimum.

Benefits for the community

  • Improve safety for the community.
  • Reduce the risk of over-floor flooding in catchment areas.
  • Improve water drainage following weather events.
